I’m Gannon Hanevold, an Iowa-based journalist working as an entertainment reporter at the Quad-City Times. I’ve been a reporter since 2015, and have had bylines for Star Tribune, Phoenix New Times, Cronkite News, State Press and Tucson Sentinel. I have experience pitching and writing event previews, features, longform enterprise stories, Q&As, listicles, breaking news and more.

I’m also a music columnist, writing the weekly “Sounds Good” column for the Quad-City Times. In college, I worked as a radio host, social media director and station manager at Blaze Radio, named the “Best College Radio Station” in the U.S. by The Princeton Review in 2022.

I was raised in rural Nevada and graduated in Dec. 2022 from Arizona State University, with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, and a minor in Music. I’m passionate about creative writing, and see journalism as a conduit of deep connection with my community. More than anything, I’m a firm believer in a motto I inherited from my late grandfather: Love Everybody.
